Very good food and different than normal Mexican in this area. Only downside is one of the waitresses (who sometimes handles to go orders) isnt very good.

Been going here now for a few years. Food is consistently great. Chips and salsa are tasty. Service is always good, and there is plenty of room to park. Prices are very reasonable...good place to take a group. Great food, great service. Not too crowded, might have been early enough. Huge portions. We could not eat everything. Margarita was very good. Atmosphere was excellent. Service and food Is just phenomenal. Always great margarita specials (how can you go wrong with that!?!) Staff is so amazing! Just try it once I swear you won't be disappointed!

Closer to authentic Mexican than Tex-Mex. I loved it, husband liked it. Tamale was very good, beef burrito and beef Taco were good. Chile Relleno was OK. The pepper was large and not quite cooked enough. The stuffing was good.

Authentic mexican, small spot but there is space for at least one large party. Margaritas not too bad- I’ve had better, Food is good. It’s my go to spot in Bartlett- close to the house/ Drink specials doing the week.

This was my first time eating here and I truly enjoyed my experience. Our waitress was awesome!!! We were seated and had our margaritas within 3 minutes. The portion size is huge and everything tasted great. I ABSOLUTELY loved the grilled shrimp it was perfectly seasoned and perfectly done. I wish I could give more stars.

Great little place to get locally made Mexico cuisine. Try the Diablo (it comes with queso) or something with verde sauce.

Fantastic food! I would say, probably the best Mexican food in the Memphis area. Tried the Molcejete El Idolo, maybe better than what I got in Mexico. Can easily split between two or three people. Wife really enjoyed the fajita chimechanga. I would also get them to bring the hotter salsa out, very flavorful. If you are in the area, definitely stop in.

Absolutely delicious, & generous portions. Ordered a large amount to pickup & feed our crowd at work - everyone was thrilled. And we're a tough group when it comes to Mexican food. Honestly - authentic taste.

This was one of the beat Mexican food experiences I've had in a long time. The food was fantastic, the service was friendly and fast the experience was phenomenal! If I had to complain about anything, their salsa could have been a little thicker and chunkier, but its flavor makes up for any shortcomings of texture. I love the seasoning and flavor of their dishes!

Awesome More Mexican than texmex

El Idolo is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I had a chicken taco, chile relleno, beef burrito, rice and beans. Everything was fresh, hot and delicioso. The top shelf margarita pitchers were strong and freshly made. The service was excellent. The servings are large, and the prices are good - especially the 'pick four with rice and beans.'

Me and my wife have been eating here since they opened. We consider ourselves foodies and have eaten at places all over the city and as others have mentioned this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Memphis, tucked away in Bartlett. We are both vegetarian and their veggie dishes beat any other. This is the only Mexican joint we've been to that includes large fresh vegetables in their entrees. The service is top notch and the drinks are always strong. We always have a great experience! Check it out.

I absolutely love this place. However, they do occasionally get items in our order wrong or things are missing. I just make sure to check my Togo order before I leave now. Their food tastes great.

By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Memphis. I love their Molcajete. Drinks are very good too

The fajitas are fantastic. Always fresh and flavorful. They’d be perfect if El Ídolo made their flour tortillas in house. Otherwise, no complaints!

I decided to give em a try this past Sunday since my usual go to Mexican spot closed for good. The atmosphere was peaceful and mellow. The top shelf margarita hit the spot. I ordered the fajita nachos with steak, chicken, and shrimp. I gave 3 stars because the shrimp was kinda burnt.
